Come aboard ‘Sturdy Girl’ and enjoy a fishing trip in the Thames Estuary and surrounding areas. Full or half day trips available, experienced or novice, all are welcome.

Full day and half day fishing trips in and around the Thames Estuary. Fish bait will be supplied and hire tackle is available. Tea and coffee included.

Nick and His Boat
Nick has lived on Mersea Island for 29 years and has an extensive knowledge and love for the Mersea coastline. Nick spent many years fitting out Sturdy Girl so she met all the commercial regulations. She was launched in 2018 and since then, she has been used for pleasure trips for friends and family.
Nick completed all his necessary exams in 2021 with a commercial endorsement. This now enables him to operate the boat to its licensed limitations. Nick has always had a love for the water and hopes to make full use of Sturdy Girl for the purpose he built her for.
Sturdy Girl is a 31ft Pro Charter Vayron, lovingly fitted out and skippered by her owner. She is powered by a 315hp Yanmar engine, which is capable of speeds up to 28 knots and is YDSA coded to Cat 3 certification. She is licensed to carry 10 people including crew, 20 miles from safe haven. Sturdy Girl is fully equipped with an off-deck WC, heated wheelhouse and all the required safety equipment for a small commercial vessel.
Rules, Location and Contact
Any disorderly behaviour will not be tolerated and the tour will return to port immediately. We reserve the right to refuse the boarding of anyone who may appear to be intoxicated. No refund will be issued.
A full refund will be issued if the trip is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions or by the skipper. If the customer cancels less than 48 hours before the trip, we are not able to offer a refund.
You will find us at the end of the jetty, Coast Road, West Mersea, CO5 8PA. There is a small car park by the jetty or another is located opposite The Victory Public House. Please allow extra time as it gets very busy especially during the summer season.
